How I Started in Photography

Journey to Becoming a Professional Photographer

It was 2012 and I was spiritless in life, I was having a very difficult time truly enjoying the beauty life had to offer. I was working a 9 to 5 job that wasn’t fulfilling my inner artistic and creative personality and I was slowly dying inside. No Joke! Depression was lingering and trying to break the dang door down. I needed a pick me up, so I started getting into photography.

At the start of my journey into photography, I was living in the heart of the Treasure Valley in Boise, Idaho walking around with a simple yet effective Nikon Coolpix with no interchangeable lens (I am now a SOLID Canon girl). While the beginning of my photog life was so-so (imagine hand gesture) fun it wasn’t the ADVENTURE I really needed and longed for.

So I JUMPED head first!

I packed up everything I owned (fur babes and all), got into a U-Haul tugging my car behind it, and moved to a tiny town named Alpine in the stunning Star Valley of Wyoming. This quaint town literally was HEAVEN ON EARTH and an aspiring photographers DREAM COME TRUE. I was surrounded by mountains, lakes, gorgeous pine trees, wildlife, and my heart was full; my eye for Landscape Photography was inflamed and I was ready to Rock ‘n’ Roll! Now don’t get me wrong Boise, Idaho and its magical ambiance is phenomenal, but being in Alpine, Wyoming gave me the inspiration to CREATE and the yearning to tap into my imaginative nature that was screaming to come out.

Creation Began...

Being just a hop, skip, and a jump away from two of the most SPECTACULAR world-renowned National Parks, Yellowstone and Grand Teton was the cherry on top. Landscape Photography was the opening to a lifelong business venture; the journey began and it only continues to grow. In 2015, I bought my first professional camera (Canon 7D) and started building my portfolio. I began photographing people and that is when the real fun started because I found that I LOVED IT because I love people! I started working my butt off and began investing in myself; it was liberating to be my own boss (I definitely recommend it!) .

Finally, in 2016, I became an official business with the State of Idaho, started charging for sessions, and have only continued to grow (Thank you for the support!). I am blessed and TOTALLY honored to serve the Treasure Valley Idaho in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, Nampa, Caldwell, Star, Middleton, Emmett, and Mountain Home and photograph Idaho Portraits of all kinds; such as, Idaho Families, Idaho Newborn and Children, Idaho Models, Idaho High School Seniors, Idaho Moms that are expecting, Idaho Entrepreneurs, Idaho Businesses, and much more. Cheers to new beginnings and growth!
